Hello Everyone, I am new here and would love some advice from all of you (you guys are scary smart and knowledgeable). I used to be a programmer, back in the dark ages of machine language. I switched careers and have been out of touch with coding for so long that I would consider myself new. I only learned enough HTML and Java script to do my job which was network management. At this point in my career I am starting over and would love any advice that you knowledge folks out there may have. I would love a j-o-b but those seem to be few these days so I am trying my hand at making money online. Since I am just-over-broke I don’t have much to invest, but I am willing to put in any amount of time that it takes to learn something new and be successful. I read about Clickbank and now would like to try it. I get the overall concept of how it works but there are some holes in my knowledge. I don’t have a clear picture. Like how much do I need to invest every month etc? I know that this is long for a first post so I will cut it short. Thanks for reading. And for those of you who seem to be excelling at this….congrats!
You don't really need to invest anything - You can get started for free. You can use "2.0" sites as your landing pages (which then link to the clickbank products you are promoting.) And of course signing up as a clickbank affiliate is free. I recommend a more focused approach... For example pick out a niche (such as weight loss) and then "review" diet CB products. Then you can write articles related to this topic and submit them to EZineArticles.com which then link to your 2.0 pages. While it is true you can do it the free way - I suggest buying your own domain/web host as the cost is quite small ($6.95/month or so) and it will be a way to start building up a long term business.
Zibblu has good products and he will help you get started if you choose his campaign, he helps a lot on this forum. Ncmedia also has good products with good grafics and materials

Thanks for the response guys. So, Zibblu could I use a WordPress blog as my web 2.0 page? Or would my own domain work better?
I believe your own domain would work better. Two big reasons: #1 wordpress.com can always delete your blog if they feel it is too commercial. Imagine doing all of that hard work and then it's gone just like that. #2 with wordpress.com you cannot control every aspect of your landing page. You won't be able to optimize it 100% like you can with your own page. That being said there is a positive side to wordpress.com - you can get more search traffic in the short term most likely. Mostly through the tags. I use things like wordpress.com, squidoo.com, hubpages.com to link back to my own sites rather than as the landing page themselves. I don't believe in doing too much work in getting links and traffic to domains I don't own. I just don't think it makes long term sense.
Thanks Mazemiami you ain’t kiddin’ about the amount of info. Trying not to be overwhelmed and slowly taking it all in. Thanks bl4ckman WordPress and Blogger are probably easier to use but Zibblu makes a point about not being able to control the site. I wouldn’t want to do all that work and have my site deleted, or not be able to optimize it to make as much as possible. So, I have a lot to think about. Maybe I will start will WordPress or Blogger or Hubpages etc. Then when I can’t use them anymore switch to my own domain? Hopefully by then I can afford the monthly fee on a domain? … Still researching…..
Yes, by all means buy your own domain. If you have a house or car, wouldn't you rather own than rent? Blogger & Wordpress take the control out of your own hands. And you've got the numbers wrong -- there is no monthly fee on domains, just annual. And they are only something like $15 per year...very affordable.
flip - yes but you must also pay for webhosting... But of course you can buy a webhost like HostMonster (my favorite) and then add additional domains for just $10 each. I have 15 domains on my HM account right now and I think altogether that costs me not much more than $200/year.
Hey Zibblu, Thanks for the HostMonster tip. This is a new one for me. I am going to do some research now.
If you buy a hosting account, which costs something like $5/month or even less (depends on hosting), you can install Wordpress there, and it will belong only to you. No one will be able to delete your blog or modify it, except you
That was my thought exactly but I wasn't sure if it were possible. Now that I know that I can move the WordPress blog, I need to go find the WordPress manual to make sure that I do it correctly. Thanks bl4ckman that was very timely
It's quite simple to install everything. Just do a search on Google on "how to install wordpress on (your hosting)" For example: "how to install wordpress on godaddy" Goodluck
