Windows Se7en BETA will be out next year and the stable version at least late 2009 or early 2010.

Vista runs great on a capable machine. Don't expect Windows 7 to run like a cheetah on a antiquated PC either.

Stay with your current OS. Right now, Vista isn't the best option. Microsoft knows about it and that's why they're releasing Windows 7. My guess is that this Windows 7 will be a reloaded Vista.

If you're using Win XP, stick to it. Maybe it's not the best OS in the world but I can say that it's far more stable and secure than Vista. XP isn't perfect, it just works. Vista sucks.

You could also buy yourself a Mac xD Or even better: get any Linux distro and keep your money with you!

I run XP and have everything optimized in it after several years. However, I am itchin to upgrade the GUI. I think I may hunt around to try to vista-ize the XP interface but there is no way I will install Vista on this box. I ran Vista in a virtual machine and I think it is for people who like Macintosh.

You should upgrade to Windows Vista. You can't just buy Windows Se7en. You can't upgrade Vista to Se7en just like you would upgrade XP to Vista. One of the many windows Se7en requirements: touch screen monitor.

For me you are better off with Vista. I am sure with newer service packs Vista would be better than xp in the future.

Vista is worse than windows 2000. I hope windows 7 is a bit better. But i doubt it.

Not so. It will support a touch screen monitor, but it won't require it. You will still be able to use your monitor/keyboard/mouse interface.
