For one ad I got a 10% CTR but that doesn't really count as it was set up by a Google Adwords specialist.

About the best from my own efforts has been around 4% which isn't that impressive!

    Cheers,
    Dave.

If you want to push it above 4%, you will end up having MFA sites, which no one would like to revisit. If you are looking for long term success, you may better be happy with the decent CTR you are having.

I manage the PPC campaigns for a large web-only retail business. I'm sure it doesn't count for this discussion, but would you believe 15.39% YTD clickthrough?

CTR for individual brands and products sold by the company almost always are below 5%, but we do have ads running for our store's domain name, misspellings, "[domain] coupon codes", etc. CTR on these campaigns have just over 15% CTR this year, with a conversion rate of 43.98%! Since it's customers specifically looking for our site, I would actually want it to be less (more traffic through natural search results = less clicks = less $$ to Google).

7.46% is the best individual campaign for a specific product at this point.

I had a few ads in the water4gas niche that avged 6 position that had 6-7% CTR over a couple hundred impressions. But I am happy with 3% or higher.

I have a couple of ads that are 18-19%. And I'm still an adwords rookie. It helps to have a product that people are looking to purchase (actually court ordered to purchase). And showing in the top 3 ad positions definately helps!

Could be the 'newness' factor of it!? Some people do multiple searches spread some days apart as they are still deciding if they want to buy or not. Your ad would probably have stood out! Please give your stats in a few days from now if you don't mind. Will be interested to know if you have maintained the .3 average.

    Cheers,
    Dave

I regularly get 10 to 20% click thru on good converting keywords. Click thru means nothing - conversions means everything. Make sure and set up conversion tracking and use Google Analytics to get keyword level roi. Now, can you get double digit conversions on your ads?

Right. You may make more $$ on a lower CTR ad than a higher CTR ad because you could be attracting more non-buyers.

    Hello there

I assume you mean how many times somebody clicked on your Adwords ad compared to how many impressions ( times shown) = CTR

Obviously the higher the % the more people get to VIEW your offer....

But the CTR of more interest is how many filled your optin form or bought, that is the number of page views compared to purchase or optin.....

    i.e. 3000 impressions >> 300 clicks >> 30 signups/sales = 1% not 10% even though CTR is 10%

3000 impressions >> 900 clicks >> 30 signups/sales = Still is 1% even though CTR is 30%....but the cost per sale is 3X as high

So using % is good analytical tool, but real # are better guage of profits

For campaigns with over 100 clicks, 0.15%. But this is on the content network.

Conversions should fall between 2% and 12% (Amazon is around 12). I have taken over many accounts that were .5% or worse. These have site usability problems, quite often in the shopping cart. Using Analytics, I have been able to cut shopping cart abandonment from 95% to 40% and get conversion rates to 2% to 4%. Increasing a conversion rate from .4 to 4% is a tenfold increase in sales. It is time consuming and some fixes can be expensive, but it is worth it.
