Differece between SEO and SEM

hi friends,

i am working in the field of seo i started my career from link development's departement and now from last two year i am working as an seo project manager

but i want to know about what is SEM ? Is is same like SEO ?

 

SEM means Search Engine Marketing which also includes PPC.

 

SEM is divided into three, namely: SEO,PPC, and Viral Marketing.

 

I believe you will find that SEM is using (applying) SEO methods to improve page rank.

 

in short define SEM as the practice of buying paid search listings.

i think SEM = SEO + PPC

Fundamentally, you can SEO for free (even if many pay for links, etc.), but the rest of SEM is probably going to cost, like with pay-per-click advertising, ala Ad Words.

 

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the art of making a site rank in top positions in SERPS in the original, natural Google rankings. It is actually the subset of SEM.

Search Engine Marketing involves PPC and all the paid stuff included.

SEO and SEM can be classified as types of Internet Marketing.
