I just bought a domain name through go daddy...The gentlemen on the phone told me that the crawl bots are now check domain name registrations and they are looking for domain names that are registered for atleast 3 years..Is this true? Because I only registered mine for 1 year. If some how much weight are they putting on it?
Google owns a WHOIS database so that they can look for the registration length of a domain. They know that black hatters will typically only register a domain for 1 year and then churn and burn the site until it gets banned by Google. A business that is in it for the long term will register a domain name for a few years (10 is best), all of that factors into their trust ranking of a site.
