I have a .ca domain that used to have good rankings for a number of keywords. However, recently all rankings dropped in google.com, but the site still ranks high in google.ca Obviously Google is geo-targeting the site. Is there any way to of this to get back into the global index? What if I used a .com or .net domain and redirected the site? Thanks
Yes, but for any .ca domain, you get "Your site's domain (.CA) is already associated with the country/region: Canada"
As your domain is associated with Canada only..It itself shows that you are willing to promote your website in Canada only...if you want to promote your website globally..it will be better you come up with a new .com domain...
I know that this will not help much. But maybe get a .com .net .info .org domainname, I believe you can geo target this TLD.
I'm facing the same question with a .co.uk domain. The only advice I can get says get a new .com domain and begin building links to that. Also keep the content different. In other words, start from scratch.
