I don't know how more clear than "I only want to buy a .com" can someone be..

My suggestion is to invest the $20,000 in marketing or other things and buy a less cheap yet good domain which can still be memorable.

I'm serious and indeed, only want a .com. Please no suggestions with any reference to a vertical market (i.e. babies) as it's for a portal that can effectively contain information about any topic.

My advise is for you to hire a marketing advisor or strategic planner to plan for your domain names. It should not be long, hard to remember domains. To make it successful, you need a domains that is short, easy to remember, and have something that makes people think of your site when they think about something.

Make if official. Use your money well. That is if you have it.
If you don't, try not giving hope to these poor fellow who has already sees $20k in their head.
