A phonecall from Google about new listing system

Hi, on a show (something like EXPO) I met a guy who told me that he received a phonecall from Google who told him that for 400£ Google will build him a website and give it a premium listing.

I was wondering whether it was a con, what do you think?
Sounds really weird, but the guy was serious when he told me about it.

Sounds very suspicious to me. Why would they? If they did offer this service it would impact on their Adsense program from which they stand to earn far more than £400 and for a lot less effort.

If it sounds to good to be true....

No such thing as a premium organic listing in Google. Anyone who talks about "special connections" or guarenteed ranking, or any edge via a Google connection/product is scamming you.

Absolutely a scam. If possible you should notify that number to google immediately.

Sadly enough, the guy who told me that haven't contacted me ever since, maybe he was just pulling my leg, I don't know, weird stuff.

About google selling a top place for money instead of AdWords, it does sound weird, and because of this whole Google + Msn + Yahoo taking over stuff or buying out stuff it all gets confusing, so far I admire google for their system and hope they won't ever change it.

EDIT: anyway, thanks for answering, just wanted to make sure that it was a con.

Yeah, that's possible, maybe the guy missunderstood, maybe they told him "first place on google" and he thought that what they mean is that google will sell them this place.

Anyway, thanks for answering, who knows, maybe I should start calling people as Google advisor lol.
