Do multiple backlinks from 1 website count as multiple links, or just 1?

    I was wondering.......

Say you have 100 backlinks from Digital Point..... wouldnt that only equal 1 backlink?

I mean, 100 backlinks from digital point certainly can't be equal to 100 backlinks from 100 different websites

My guess is, 100 backlinks from 1 website = 1 link...... althought the other 99 might help with anchor text

    What do you guys think???

Difficult to say. I'm sure Google counts multiple links in some way because if it simply discounted them entirely when it found more than 1 this would open up the possibility of rivals sabotaging your rank. Whether it counts them as more than a single link is open to question.

I think 100 backlinks from 1 site = 1 link! Search engine percieve them as just one...

I dont think so. I think each link adds up to your Google Page rank calculations.

What matters is that your backlinks do not appear to be for a single keyword or look like spam.

The weight of each page is factored in. Suppose you have a link from the homepage of Microsoft. Now suppose you have a link on a sub-page deep within the site.

The link on the homepage is worth a lot, the link on the sub-page is worth just a little.

i think if the anchor text is same in all links then google will count it 1. keep the variation in anchors.

No, Google will count it as one link. Eg: If we will add our link to a normal site then we will get one backlink, according to Google. But backlink checker tool will show backlinks equal to the pages indexed of the site..;)

You can't change your anchor text when submitting to forums. He remains the same for every post, even after changing it in your profile.

I hope it counts 100 backlinks counts for more than just 1 link, even though it's from the same site.

100 back links will count b/w some 1 to hundred back links, as what google decide.

here is the answer from my experience:

it will get counted as different backlinks. But there effect will be discounted as in concern with pr or serp position. Its the way google does it for my sites atleast.

One link I think. I have sites with over 80,000 links from each page in another site and the PR is not high.

In case of articles published in one domain and blog entries they will be taken as separate links while..but with possible reduction in weight?? ...while multiple link on same page will count as one....yes

Does anyone know of any tests that have been done, to prove anything either way?? This is a tough one! (and an important one!)
