Ok, this Thread is for PC users that use Windows Vista! Most people that dislike Vista say it take a long time to boot and it runs slowly. I have posted some tips to make Windows Vista Boot up and run quicker; I manage to reduce my start-up time by 18 seconds. To run the test you should shutdown your PC and time how long it takes to reboot, take a note of the time. Follow the tips on how to make Windows Vista Start up quicker, shutdown your PC and turn it back on again. Note the time and post your results here. Thanks Brian
I plan on purchasing Vista for my custom PC, I really like it on the other PC we have and my one is even more powerful so should run it with no problems. I'll use this if and when I get it.
Heard a lot of bad things about vista. The kicker is I got the new Dell catalog in the mail today and every single PC in that catalog is running vista.
Really nice tips to make your PC run faster but can't post the time I saved because my machine runs on xp...
If you have an old PC then vista won’t be for you, if you have a good PC then its fine. Thanks Brian
I use xp pro 64. I have used vista but it takes forever to load up completely if you have a lot of ram. If there is another way to bypass or speed up the caching of the ram during the startup then that would save some time as well. I remember trying to play unreal 3 on the vista pc i was using and i had to wait some tiem just to get it up and going but you have some good solutions in order to make the pc start up faster. I don't know if you ever heard of a program called "start stop" but i had used it for xp and it basically allows you to choose what programs you want to start up and you could change it during the startup by just pressing esc if you wanted or didn't want something to load.
I took the Vista challenge several months ago. I installed it on the 2nd partition of my business laptop with 1,5GB Ram and used it as a personal OS. It was a nightmare. Even when I turned off some of the services it didn't run better - it was sooo slow and sometimes it took ages to stop reading from my HDD. The Usb Flash ReadyBoost Feature didn't help too. I was patient enought for 2-3 months, but I didn't like it at all and now I'm happy with my XP again.
thanx for your tips..........Vista is much better than XP because in Vista there is no need to install the drivers & it has beautiful gadgets so i like Vista
It’s all down to the size of your PC; I’m using Core 2 Quad processor Q6700 with 4 GB Ram. Currently powered by Vista Premium 32-bit, soon to be upgraded to 64-bit. The pc handles anything that I throw at it without any problems. Thanks Brian
