Which is better for promotion? I'm sure Squidoo is higher ranking in terms of Alexa and such, but I'm starting to question it's ability. Should I go half to blog half to Squidoo?
If you just need a landing page for your product, then go for Squidoo. If you want to have a blog, where you could also post your articles and interact with users, etc go for Wordpress. This is actually wrong comparison, because it's usually Squidoo vs Hubpages or Blogger vs Wordpress.
I've noticed wordpress.com tags rank very quickly in the SE. There's definitely something that can be squeezed out of that with the right techniques. I just started using wordpress.com though and I'm little worried about spending a lot of time on domains that I dont own. I dont really like doing that --- plus I've heard they can be touchy about deleting blogs? Anyone find that to be true?
Squidoo is better if you're trying to make money - people get banned putting affiliate links on Wordpress; unless you host your own Wordpress blog Then you can do anything you want to.
I have had better luck with Wordpress. There is too much going on and too many distractions on a Squidoo page for my liking. However i agree with Zibblu about putting a lot of work into a domain that isn't yours. I would suggest using these two sites for testing purposes only and if your product works move it to your own "keyword" domain based on your product. hope that helps, good luck...
Wordpress.com blogs come on faster in google - True Wordpress.com TOS does not allow any type of of ads or affiliate links in the blogs - True They sometimes permit Amazon.com AIDs for special cases - On a case to case basis
It is forbidden to promote clickbank products using shared wordpress hosting. However, if you want to install wordpress to your own domain you can promote whatever you want.
If you want you blog terminated then go for Wordpress. I've had a final notice for one of my blogs one year ago, and had to remove the entire content on one of my wordpress blogs, including the aff. links. Wordpress.com doesn't allow any promotional material (i.e. affiliate links or banners). You notice you're not even allowed to place Java Script Code. Choose Squidoo.
You are right! Wordpress doesn't allow affiliate links. So it is better to avoid it than getting banned.
I use Squidoo, but it is true that there are too many distractions out there so your conversions will not be really good, at least for me. Hubpages rank easily than squidoo, however they flag your hubs like crazy if you put aff links. Never tried wordpress.com as they do not allow aff links. I saw that most of the people point theit links to their money pages, not directly putting aff links. You can try that.
Squidoo is a great site building authority for when you are promoting a product or a service, especially a clickbank one. I have used Wordpress.com in the past, and unfortunately didn't do too well with them. I have by far made more conversions using squidoo' lens. my 2 cents Tom
I would start with HubPages, then move to Squidoo, then move out to your own thing. That way you maximize traffic and earning potential. If you want a blog, rock blogspot, not Wordpress. Blogspot ranks well for all kinds of crazy stuff.
