    hehe, whenever we search something on google, it always claims to find many hundred thousands of results, but it shows only few.
    I wonder why it does not show all results?
    I just attached the image for explanation..

    P.S. If it is supposed to show only around 1000 results, then why it waste so much energy to find all results?

    I think the missing results are the results that are omitted from the pages that are thrown. If you click 'show omitted results' you should get the full 1000 pages.

    I'm not sure if this is right, just guessing :p

    Yea if you click on view omitted results it will fill out the pages for the top 1,000 results. Anything past that point such as 731,000,000 shown in the example would be beyond ridiculous.

    That BIG number represents the results from google's index that match your query. Google is smart, so you should find the site you are looking for within the first pages. Why should a normal user want to access the 100000th result?

    Definitely.

    Google indexed a millions/billions of sites and show only highly relevant. Other site might have the same content but uses logic on what might the user searching for.

    Because it is trying to think the other way around which your brain is lacking (j/k, no offense)

    The reasons for this is different for example;
    - genuinely a visitor would not bother to check more than those results (the default is top 1000)
    - The other reason for this is top 1000 are most relevant and the remaining results could have repetitive urls from the same sites which has been displayed in the TOP1000 so there is no sense in showing remaining results.
    - Less over head on servers
    - google is stupid (after its a bot which has set of rules :p) its not a stupid, if it is we are all stupids because of G we are today earning for living.

    Google shows up to 1000 results for each search term and omits the duplicate results
