Hi all, im just starting a new website and i want to know some tips for how to market it and get it appearing high in google. i know the basics but i need this to go well. I am putting alot of hours into this website and i dont mind doing tedious tasks like submitting to directories. The website is for selling brand name clothing. Hope someone can help Thanks Kieran
if you want to increase your SERP ranking, then only way to do is to keep building backlinks. ofcourse, search engine friendly site, unique content, and on-page optimization are important. learn all the link building methods and keep building backlinks. its a never ending process
Build as many backlinks as you can. Submit to Directories, submit articles to article directories, exchange links with related sites etc.
Make sure you do some keyword research and then use those keywords when you do your link building. Be patient too. It takes a month or two to start getting long tail hits from your link building efforts. But if you have a good site those long tail hits will get you some attention and possibly some other back links. Once you start getting some links you'll move up in the SERPs and the process continues. A little bit of work every day pays off well in about 6 months.

to me, submit to top article directories like mixx, digg, sphinn are quite effective. submit your article to other dofollow article directories too.

do proper work on page and of page don't try to do over optimization don't use duplicate content get links from relevant sites and just follow google instructions
