Well I think you mean we need to get uber double premium special management because really we have 2 techs with alot of experience working alot of hours a day on our servers. If allready you take a look at this topic you will see it is full of hackers. You don't want to know what is out there waiting
I'd love to know what the real exploit was Full SSH access is the same as the ability to run commands as root. The exploits do not give you the password to root they however give you the same privileges as root thus making it like you had it. The vmsplice exploit I believe was a 0 day and it hit large hosts (hostgator, lunarpages ect.). It did not hit all their machines but hit several. There was no available fix for this so people either went back to an older kernel or they used patches to fix it (we used a patch). A lot of these exploits are not really widespread within the few days that they are found. It hits hard when hosts who do not update their kernels get hit. So we're talking months later
Sad to see all this. It happens sometimes and no body likes it. It may be true that Jacob was not available on MSN for support when you needed but was that mode of support offered on their website at the time of your sign up? As of now i see their primary server itself down and can see they are working hard on it. Also i saw Jacob offering free 6 months hosting and as i can see from WHOIS, they are online from 2005 and can't be some one without any experience gathered in these years. If someone is still unconvinced or is at an emergency to have their website up, why not pack your bags and move to a *stable* host as someone mentioned earlier ? I can see these are not just the 1 month hosts which come and go every day.

Hello, I have moved my web sites and I want to ask for a refund. I have paid $35 for 2 months of hosting . During this time the server was down twice and once was hacked. This is not normal. Also I have contact you using yoru web site and I have made a phone call -> fisrt time when the server was down. At least for me yoru service was BAD so please refund my money and improve yoru service in the future.

Oh... Very bad to here that too much.... I think that we should not do business on any Forums. Because when we restart any service or Server and check the forum than people send new thread that server is down.... Its an machine and we also have to restart it..... and mostly people are paying $30 for an year That don't know that how much an Provider have to pay for an year..... No one good provider want that his services goes down and Jacob is also from those providers Its an Machine and we can just take care of that machine we don't did this that machine didn't go down for the whole life..... Or there comes no issue - its an machine and issue can occurred I ashamed on that Customers which don't take care of his provider.

I suggest everybody get a refund who has hosting with profit, jacob contacted me, and wanted me to secure his servers but i said no, first 100$ payment each week for security on 3 servers, and he contacted my friend and he said 150$ if my friend fixes httptc my friend fixed it still more issue's with his server, Jacob never paid up the 150$ its been a week since he owes me 100$ and 4 days tat he owes my firend 150$. DO NOT GET THIS HOSTING! THIS IS A SCAM!
DP please log this IP for us. This is the hacker wich attacked our servers several times. Moderators please log and block anyone affiliated to this person as he will try this at more companies. He first gets an account, then hacks, then offers help, then threatens again. He has NEVER worked with us and will never work for us. Please do something about this. I just think everyone in this thread should calm down. The servers got hacked, it can happy to any server in the world, just a year or so back all the hostgator servers got backed and displayed virus infected images on every website hostgator hosted. It looks like Jacob is trying to do is best to restore the sites and 6 months free hosting to the customers is great and Jacob obviously does care about his customers if he is footing several 6 month server bills while not charging customers.
As much as I would love to bash Jacob/ProfitHost, it's pretty obvious that he is in fact trying to do the right thing. He's being hacked, which happens to most big hosting companies now and then and he's trying to fix it and not just run away from it, or just leave it like most others would do. As for the refund, he seems a bit busy, maybe try asking again?
Send an email, asking strongly for a refund. He will probably send one. Wait 5 days, if not then open a dispute with whatever you paid by (cc, pp etc.) His servers were hacked, it has happened to everyone big. Hostgator, godaddy, all of them.
Well Calum, His reason for not being able to refund me is because he hasn't setup his e-mail yet since being hacked and he can't activate his e-gold account because e-gold sends a PIN to the e-mail as a security check So that takes out the option of sending an e-mail Second, I paid by E-Gold - a completely anonymous payment method. There is no disputes - whats done is done He offered me about 36 hours ago to pay by paypal, I agreed and gave my address and he just stopped talking to me after that point altogether
