Ditto! I use AVG on all XP machines, but used Norton on Vista ... boo! As soon as a Vista-compatible version of AVG became available, I made the switch. All computers in my home use AVG.
I really like AVG, but version 8 bummed me out. I have been reviewing Threat Fire from PC tools and will buy the full version soon.
Thanks everyone for responding to my thread. I noticed that most people suggest AVG, and the other is Avast. I'm currently using Spyware Doctor. Is AVG or Avast better then Spyware Doctor?
Its not exactly free for life.. but I use Windows Live OneCare. Its my ultimate favorite so far. If you download, they offer the first 3 months free with no limitations like other anti-virus software. site: onecare.live.com
There is something wrong with my computer. I think I have a virus or something, because my computer acts strange. It can once of a sudden close all windows or doesn't respond at all. Its also very slow. Its a new laptop and its not overloaded, my hard drive is almost empty. But its slow. This all started after I downloaded something from internet. I used recovery disc but it seems that it didn't help. What reliable program out there can scan my computer and delete all unwanted crap? I use Spyware Doctor but it doesn't work. Can someone suggest me something? Thanks.
What is your OS? I hate AVG because some files on online games is having problem with AVG. Try Vista, I'm not having a virus problem like before when I'm using XP
WoW 3 months Free, It love to use it on my lenovo laptop. I will save a lot of time before full restoring it so I can use the free trial over and over again.
I have been with AVG free for years, very effectively. Unfortunately I could never get it to perform the scan when I wanted, but other than that, no complaints at all and no feel for a change, what better could the others give me, free or paid?
I've been using Avast! Home Edition for some time. I think since I uninstalled Norton (because it was a trial ), eScan (trial too)...
It may already to late. Some of these like the Vumdo virus require wipe the hard drive and re-installing... What A hassle!
My kid's computers have AVG. AVG 7.5 I liked a lot, as I upgraded them to AVG 8.0... I don't care for the link scanner, it is too heavy handed for my tastes. I was thinking of taking it off in lieu of Avast free for them, but then found I could turn off both the link scanner... and the notification service for the link scanner. AVG 8.0 is better with these both turned off, but I am thinking of moving them to Avast or since they are pretty computer savvy for kids... to Blink.
Previously used AVG and now using Avast with zonealarm. Both works good for me and both are free to use. DON.
