You can get them for $1.15 at GoDaddy, which charges $0.20 ICANN fee at checkout.

Free INFO domains was a promotion running from September 2004 to early 2005.

Nowadays you can get them for as low as $0.99 at 1&1 or $2.99 at Domainsite. Otherwise $1.15 at GoDaddy when this promo is available or if you are already client.

Why do you say that? I have several websites on .infos and they're all indexed.

OP: Are you looking for a particular name or will any do? You might be able to get someone to trade you one for a service or something. I don't know of any registrars giving them out for free presently.

.info isn't free. They're just giving it away for a discount on its first year of purchasing then after that, the price will be as same as other domains.

That'd be nice, and no, I'm a open source freak, I hate all things related to warez, blackhat crap, they aren't worth my time since you can actually openly market what you know.

Literally what I'm doing is learning more about webserver software, such like how BIND Server lets the registrar know the ip and how apache set virtual hosts and so on. pretty much educational stuff.

I have a VPS, though it's down at the moment, when I get it back I'll throw you a PM :D

.info domain is extremely cheap now and it may cost you less than $2.00 for 1 year registration. You may try to register one at http://domreg.asphostcentral.com
