eBay alternative...what is it?

I thought I had found it at ebid.net, but they require a credit card so I won't be dealing with them.

What other websites are out there?

*note* I would prefer ones that include Australia

    thanks in advance

First of all, the outrageous fees.

Secondly, my account was suspended for no reason at all except that I was "abusing the system" and they had the nerve to give me zero evidence of how I did it.

Lastly, their annoying habit of taking money from my bank account without asking.

Not ebay but a member, and ebay protected them and didnt even let me leave bad feedback for the $400 bucks.

What happened is that member claimed they never won my item after my item was delivered and that their account was hacked. Ebay said yes their account was hacked so leave them alone you cant even leave them feedback.

So much bullshit i could go to the library, use a proxy and say my account was hacked to purchase something.

Unfortunately, with eBay's monopoly, products sell for less at other auction sites, and it's difficult to get obscure items to sell at all.

I guess Yahoo! Auctions is second best: http://auctions.yahoo.com/

Alibaba is for importers and exporters. Sales are normally for container loads.

China's answer to ebay is actually TaoBao.com (Translated from chinese means treasure hunt). It is run by Yahoo and is very popular as it does not require listing fees as Ebay does. However it is all in Chinese..

i would suggest stay away from alibaba...unless u have the resources to personally visit the trader and get the goods....cos..it has now become a second home for scammers...and anyone can easily create accounts with false info...

i am tellling this from my personal experience as i was scammed off GBP2000 by a wholesaler...and bcos of which my ebay and paypal accounts are suspeneded...so..be careful..

Taobao is actually alibaba's C2C site, it is the biggest competitor of eBay in China. Alibaba's CEO Jack Ma is planning to partnership with google despite their yahoo's partnership in US, I think this step might bring some improvement.

Its to stop frawd I guess. you can do via credit card and you get $10 in your account so basically no money loss.

I sell alot so yea $10 is nothing in fees.

I just sold 2 $20 Items cost me $1.20 in fees normally with ebay its just over $1 each.

business is slow but again I do only have 1 auction on there.

I don't think you can go past ebay. Sure their fees are high but it is all relative, I mean you get heaps more bids and a MUCH bigger audience.

the only good alternative I have to ebay is this for sale forum called boostcrusing I sometime use! It is a massive community but its only bassed in AU, also theirs other great for sale forums in my country!

basically the best thing about for sale forums is their free :D

ebay is good if you want to sell the same thing over and over but! Or something weird!

but if you have a common item eg ipod, computer stuff?? then deffiantly give a for sale forum a go!
