3 to 5 years? No way. The way his body is deteriorating, I think he won't be able to play for more than two years from now. Moreover, Sachin is 35. Ponting is 33. So, he can play more matches. So, he can overtake Sachin if he continues his good form.
Well when Sanath can play at 40 then why not Sachin, He will play only few ODI as he informed to BCCI to play more test Cricket. Also Indians play more Test matches then Aussi, means he can play more matches in 3 years then Ponting play 5 years. I don't know who will go top but I feel Sachin might hold both records for long time sure. Who knows T20 will effect on this cricket we might not see big innings in Test cricket.
