    Hey,

You'll have to do it manually.

If you are using WP < 2.5 :
From your Dashboard, click on "Design" then on "Theme Editor".
You'll find "Header (header.php)" where you'll be able to add/edit meta tags and "Footer (footer.php)" where you'll be able to add you Google Analytics code.

If you are using WP > 2.5 :
From your Dashboard, click on "Presentation" then on "Theme Editor".
You'll find "Header" where you'll be able to add/edit meta tags and "Footer" where you'll be able to add you Google Analytics code.

Then, like izzatz13 said, there are plenty of plugins which can assist you through optimization.
Have a look at the "Most Popular" category right here : wordpress.org/extend/plugins/browse/popular/

    Hope this help :)

Well, i think you could add meta tags in it. open your header.php file, you could add meta tag there between the <head>...</head>tags or you could add these plugins
    -add meta tag
    http://www.g-loaded.eu/2006/01/05/add-meta-tags-wordpress-plugin/

    -add meta robot
    http://yoast.com/wordpress/meta-robots-wordpress-plugin/

    -all in one SEO pack
    http://wp.uberdose.com/2007/03/24/all-in-one-seo-pack/

or just simply choose any other plugins you like here:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Plugin_Compatibility/2.5

As with google analytics, i think you could add any site even if its a wordpress blog, just login to google analytics then add your site's URL

you can not do it on wordpress.com. your posts get links from the wordpress.com tag pages and this is very good but you can not edit your meta tags.

buy a domain and use wordpress script. it would be better. also try the "all in seo" plugin.

Sirri is right. You won't be able to do much SEO customization into a wordpress.com blog.

Like Sirri said, you should get a host (ie : HostGator) and install the Wordpress script. Wordpress is absolutely free and can be install very easily with a few clicks using Fantastico inside the Cpanel of HostGator accounts.

Then, you'll be able to customize everything and use useful SEO plugin like the All-In-One SEO one.

Plus, having your own domain name will probably give you better result vs a wordpress.com subdomain.

The must have use to be the All In One SEO Pack but the newest SEO plugin is an upgrade on that plugin. It is called Platinum SEO Pack.

I just did a Platinum SEO Pack Review on my review blog and it is the newest must have when it comes to WP Optimization. I have been using it on almost all my blogs.
