You should try forum marketing. Basically, just go to a related niche form and post your link there if people ask for help. Make sure not to spam, though.
Read in this forum on topics such as Article Marketing, Social Bookmarking and Bum Marketing. Create mini-Blogs, at places like Blogger, with short articles leading to your main site... Then, read in this forum on topics such as Article Marketing, Social Bookmarking and Bum Marketing ... and again!
Article marketing is definitely the way to go if you're trying to make a name for yourself. It's great for backlinks and one of your articles might pop up on some authority site... It's also a great way to get your site indexed quicker...
And if you're looking for more forums, I compiled a list a while back on forums you should join... http://www.datmoney.com/2008/02/13-blogging-forums-you-should-join-or-at-least-check-out.html Hope it helps!
Of course I am not ok with few for now. I posted link on one forum and had unbelievable jump in stats, that's why I WOW........ OK, maybe I overreacted
That's about the only things I do and I've had much better success. For the most part everything is free and if someone wants to charge you, then find somewhere that offers what you're wanting to do for free.
i had some good luck with yahoo questions. search for questions related to your niche and then post your link in your answer.
Article Submissions, Free PR Submissions, and Directory Submissions are the way to go. I would also suggest Adwords if you are selling something, especially if its a niche product as advertising that way is cheaper
Forum marketing will get you traffic the fastest, but article submissions will get you long term traffic. Start doing both consistently and you will see results pretty quick.
