How to disable PDF to prevent from people copy and paste my work?

I am currently writing a long report by PDF and to avoid peopel copying my work in near future, I would like to know how a function or setting of how and where the copying and pasting the whole PDF document is totally disabled?? i.e. they can't be highlighted

I have the new adobe professional. I looked into all sorts of things and most security features were easy to work around. They have a login solution at adobe but it's so complicated. And I think in the end, it's not much safer either.

Lizard lock works but it's expensive and you are likely to have many customers get upset over the hurdles it takes to get into a document. It's about $1,200 so obviously not for the average ebook maker.

I ended up using a executable ebook software and haven't had any complaints. It provides a little more security. For the mac users I made a pdf version.

 

What executable e-book security program did you select, and how did you create the PDF for Mac users? Is the PDF as secure as the .exe e-book?

'securing' your book makes it way harder for me to work with your ebook as a reader - starting by copy and pasting snippets out of it for easier collection of thought and not ending by quoting parts on my web page to promote your book if I wanted to. (and that even might just start with having an overview of your chapters)

secured ebooks - or as a matter of fact the ones with 'ebook readers' which fulfill what you want will lead to most people being annoyed, not recommend you, not talk about you and quite the oposite, I note when somebody does it and encourage readers not to buy from these people again or even for the first time.

 

I used ebook edit pro. But I can tell you I think the owner has abandoned the project other than collecting the dough. I never got any answers to any questions, that's for sure. But it's an executable file and it is a little harder to break into.

I don't have as many mac users and the pdf only has a no copy feature which I found was pretty easy to break through. I'm a bit discouraged from doing lots of ebooks as a result.

 

A quick fix will be to save as jpg and distill a new PDF from the jpg files. Everything is one layer now and letters can not be copied + you can't use the search feature either. Requires Acrobat Pro.

 

Copy text in to photoshop, flatten the text layer and go save as PDF

Alternatively copy in to any image editor or even paint and save as a JPG

pdfonline.com/convert_pdf.asp is great and works excellently, I always use it.

Some people will go to great lengths though to copy your work. A print screen and use of simple OCR software will mean it can be copied easily.

 

A jpg would work. But it is inconvenient for those who want to search the document. Making changes and edits might prove more challenging. It's a good solution, but like everything else, you need to consider the pros and cons.

 

If you have a website with PHP support another good solution when it comes to images is generating dynamically the text with the aid of GD library and one of those scripts written for such purpose.

However, due to variable lenght of articles you may need basic PHP knowledge to avoid puctuation conflicts with the script, probably using a variable to call the text externally and not within the code.

 

I hate restricted PDF files. They make me SOOOOO angry!!! But hey there is a way around it. You can unlock a copy restricted PDF file by going to http://www.ensode.net/pdf-crack.jsf , scroll down to the very bottom, click browse, upload your file and click submit. After a moment of crunching, it will display a re-worked file and you can copy/past or print. LOL!

Besides, locking your PDFs doesn't make any sense, there are programs that can do automated "PrintScreens" in high resolution and then you can run it through OCR and save as a .doc. There are many, many ways for peopel to steal your work.

 

Is that a different thing from "ebook pro", or the same?

This thread is 655 days old but if OP or someone else wanna know, there are tons of utilities to prevent people copy and paste PDF content, as there are another ton of tools that crack such limitation to proceed

 

Two things you need to consider.

Why do you assume people will copy your work? If you write it, they
will copy?

Second, if they can view it, they can copy it.

My advice would be to work with the copying. Give it
way, insert your links, get others to distribute it.

There is nothing to prevent people from copying your text.

You could convert it to a book and sell it.

You could put it behind a password and sell the password.

I think you need to rethink your whole model of publishing.

You should have the mindset that you want people to use it
freely and use that to your advantage.

That is, if it's truly copy-worthy.

I use PrimoPDF and when converting my word documents to PDF, it has some settings that let me restrict copying and other things.

You may want to look at your software settings
