How to change header on wordpress blog?

How to change header on wordpress blog?

I tried to simply rename it, but then it messed up.

Any ideas, how to change it so it will look normal ?

usually you just need to edit the header.php file.

 

in header.php to edit name of the header or anything else ?

i need to gill that blue(aroung the header) somehow with something

image, but it is not as wide as the original header, is that a problem?

 

If it's an image you have to edit it in some program like Firework (I mostly use Fireworks).

Well, there are maybe about 10.000 free themes much better than the default!

 

I agree, theres so much to choose from with free templates.

u can go in setting option and select manage option thn u can get option for edit ur header or rename ur header

 

If u want to change header wordpress u can just edit header.php

In wordpress 2.8 version u can edit headers much easier:

Many themes come with custom headers that are included by default, changing them would require the users manually editing the theme, or in some cases using the theme options.
However with WordPress 2.8 users can now add their own custom headers, you can upload a image and crop it before applying it as the header image.

The custom headers feature will only work if the theme author has configured the theme to allow this capability, you can read more about the customizing headers feature.

There are too many themes out there that trying to "standardize" changing the header image would be a coding nightmare. So please tell me how this works...???

 

I normally don't use code when making theme customizations, i usually mess things up. But I can recommend an online WP theme generator, it's called Lubith, which allows you to make several modifications to any selectable element - you can change backgrounds, add borders, apply opacity, shadow etc. I remove the site's title, description and menu and place instead of the header a logo, which works really well in minimalistic themes.
