I was wondering if there's any general consensus on the value of a registered member on a site. Something like a double opt in confirmation to a membership site. . . I've seen people say before that an RSS subscriber is worth $7. Is there a basic idea that is generally accepted about the value of a site member?
Due to the proliferation of PTC sites I would say the value of a registered member is now very close to zero. I haven't checked but I bet you can buy 100 registered, with email confirmation, members to any site you want for less than $10 from some PTC site. Unless you have some proof that your members are active they have to be seriously discounted nowadays. If your members are valid, the niche matters greatly. Arcade site members are worthless but members of a forum for yacht shoppers could be worth thousands each. Tom
absolutely! if i must generalize, i'd say 2-5$ / member...but again as you said correctly, depends on the niche
I've been told a number of times that if you build an email list properly, each member is worth about $1 per month.
