Yemen si a Tribal land. Their culture is different. They did this before eh advent of Islam, and they still do it. Its got nothing to with religion. It is a custom of the land.

I feel it is wrong, but who am I to say. I wish the Yemenis would change with time. A little exposure to the new world and some education ought to straighten things up...

You should be man enough and human enough to say that no eight year old girl should be forced into marriage or be raped. Why does it matter where it is? I condemn that sickness whether it happens in the back woods of America or in a village in Afghanistan or some household in India. It is morally repugnant regardless of the traditions.

To blindly defer to a custom which allows an adult man to rape a child is reprehensible. That you find yourself unable to condemn this says much about you as a man.

A Yemeni court on Tuesday granted a divorce to an eight-year-old girl whose unemployed father forced her into an arranged marriage this year, saying he feared she might be kidnapped.

"I am happy that I am divorced now. I will be able to go back to school," Nojud Mohammed Ali said, after a public hearing in Sanaa's court of first instance.

Her former husband, 28-year-old Faez Ali Thameur, said he married the child "with her consent and that of her parents" but that he did not object to her divorce petition.

In response to a question from Judge Mohammed al-Qadhi, he acknowledged that the "marriage was consummated, but I did not beat her."​
