I'd also just like to point out another matter of fact with non-secured, 100% open scripts. phpLD eSyndicat LinkDirectory If it was your work, you'd be the first to complain. Having the script as it is only helps prevent what's shown above - distributing free copies here, there and everywhere just weakens the entire purpose, and isn't a road Jamie is likely to go down with the script. And I'll happily stand by with pride on this stance.
First off that particular discussion has already taken place and as was pointed out it is not possible to avoid a script from being nulled. It might help prevent it but it certainly will not stop it if there is someone who is determined enough to crack it. As for the rest, I quite clearly stated to distribute under a controlled and limited system IF he wanted more mod developers to get involved and I also posted a completely plausible method to ensure that the script would not be usable online which would be perfectly acceptable for most decent developers.
He was demonstrating how some scum take advantage of all the hard work put in by script developers and then offering nulled (cracked) versions to anyone for free. This is something I'm trying to avoid as best I can.
Just going to make a quick post, nothing negative, no intention of taking the thread off topic but... Has anybody considered how off putting this is? Once again the thread has gone onto something else instead of a wishlist for future customers. Before you jump on me this is me just observing not knocking anyone or anything but all of this is scaring newcomers away completely. Forgetting about the very people that matter, the script users, soon it will reach the point of no return and the newcomers will spin round and never look in this direction again. Its the new people you want to be pleasing (remember this is me who clearly has a preference) but only giving an observation, please see what is happening here. I think some of you guys need to do business privately, you are discussing private matters out in the open that should be done by email, messenger or phone or something. This is my honest and genuine contribution to this thread and matter, look beyond the obvious and you will see what im saying.
Congratulations for turning another thread into a crappy shit argument place. This section is not to discuss how bitchy can you be... Anyways, man I always thought that only girls/ladies bitch about each other, its my first encounter seeing how grown up gentleman fighting like cats and dogs and can be bitchy. Carry on.. I am outta this.
So lets put this thread back on track humm, what if I provided each budding developer with their own private developers area allocated to each developer and they alone would have access to that area. That will give them independent access to the script without having to pay and we won't have to worry about the script going walkabout.
See a potential solution after some constructive criticism, it isn't all bad. Yes I agree that could work, but you would as I said earlier need to be selective in who you choose to give access to.
