My site average page views has been ~1400 per day using the default Joomla template. I changed to a new template JA Purity over the weekend with those drop down menus termed "Suckerfish Dropdown Menus" in web design. The pageviews were 2103 on Saturday and 2022 on Sunday. I think I'm going to change all my sites over to this system.
it's been a long standing theory that the less clicks a viewer needs, the more likely they'll see find your information. so the drop down menus just lesson the click actions and make information more readily available. even in this high speed internet world, the viewer is still lazy even if it takes a couple seconds longer just to click a bit more to find information. the top camera site dpreview.com has been using this technique for ages and i've always loved that feature.
well it's the drill down archived content i'm referring to. examples: the original static menu (3 clicks) Gallery (click) Magazines (click) Magazine Issue (click) new drop down menu (2 clicks) Gallery (hover mouse then drop down) Magazines (click) Magazine Issue (click)
