There's a competitor coming up high on the SERP's.... and he has hardly any backlinks at all..... and theyre crap backlinks... and a crap website However, he's coming up high for "Boston Condos" emmanuel realtor.com (I left a space in between) There are only 3 possibly explanations I have --- and tell me what you think 1) Title tag has "Boston Condos" in it 2) Possible new site; and i know Google gives temporary boosts to new sites 3) This might be the biggest factor: Boston Condos is his anchor text instead of "home" What do you guys think???
I see him on the second page of the Google search results. I would have to go with his site possibly being new. The other factors don't seem big enough to cause him to have that kind of rank early on. The backlinks that he does have might be kind of juicy if you know what I mean. Who knows?
I actually checked, they were junky backlinks..... Must be a new site..... he comes up #4 on my Google search..... try using all caps to bring up a different google data center
WTF? I know internal linking is extremely important. The way you cross link everything tells Google information about your site. A click here link doesn't say much.
Internal links are very important. And let me tell you this tip I got from another blog. I had always linked a banner at the top of every page to my home page, and then linked to the home page at the bottom with anchor text. Well (and I forgot the blog name), a group tested having two links to the same URL on a page, and found that the first one got used, and any other references were discarded. So since then, I am "unlinking" my banners and just using various anchor text to link to the home page. And yes, I rank for search terms that are only mentioned as anchor text to the home page in internal pages.
I thought so -- Also -- I've been keeping tabs on my competitors positions, and according to some data I have ---- he was #17 on June 2nd 2008 for "Boston Condos" Now, a month later --- I just checked --- he's #19 ..... but oddly enough, the other day he was up there around #4 I guess that happens sometimes, new sites will do sporadic jumps up high for a bit, and then sink back down I notice this with my site as well when it was new --- one day, I was #1.... after only a week, then dropped down to the 20's or so --- and did a see-saw for weeks
Maybe you should consider as well on the keyword arrangement and keyword choice in the content related to "Boston Condos" like "cheap", "recommended".... And definitely one of the factors is due to google placing importance on newly submitted page
title of main page, has much importance, as main page decides that website will goes on which cateogory, and so. keep working on it.
