I guess you've never used a proper distro or expected it to be exactly like windows.

You must be joking. No windows version can be anywhere near as friendly as a Gnome desktop:)

Friendliness is subjective, it depends a lot on the users' familiarity with a particular product. If someone used Windows all along and are asked to switch to a "more friendly" gnome interface, he won't be able to adapt as well vice versa.

It depends on software to software and as the open source are becoming more popular i think microsoft will suffer because of it.

I think now i take the A option. I mean that NOW windows XP is doing really great. You just need to do some manteinance. It is two years didn't format it!

Linux could be a good option but i don't have time to learn it.

Open Solaris by Sun is now an open software which is a user friendly GUI. Linux is a powerful server OS

In terms of user friendliness, maybe a lot of people are used to Windows.

Both have cons and pros and it actually depend on how and when you are using it.

I wounder what would you chose: a semi-friendly guy that will make free the job for you, or a friendly guy that will ask you a lot of money :)

    Friendliness is very relative.

This is not true for me, everything I got from Microsoft (OS, developer tools and so on) was free ;) You just need to know where/how to look. Of course, legally.

I will also choose Microsoft. I am quite busy to spend time learning new stuff these days so I'd go with something I am already familiar with.

I would definitly choose a because once you've windows installed you can just start doing your work. if you want to run certain programs on linux it takes some time to config all the things.

    Both,

When there is a Free GOOD software, I use it and forget about paid ones.
When there isn't a Free GOOD Software, I have to use the paid ones :)

    Thx, LeVampire

Most professional software is on money, even for Linux.

Windows would still have to be the obvious choice because it is still the choice of 80%+ of the consumer marketplace. It is far easier to find tech support at your local computer store for a PC than for a Linux or Mac machine, despite some of the great forums for Ubuntu and other flavors of Linux online. I've tried both and feel that Ubuntu is superior to Vista in terms of the quality it delivers, but until more mainstream software is written with both OSes in mind and there is a better local support backbone for Linux, I feel that I have to stick to Vista.

That being said, Linux is the obvious choice for a Web Server, and I again feel that most of the open source web software is far superior to Microsoft and the other major software companies (Apache of IIS, PHP over ASP.net, MySQL over MSSQL, Joomla! over everything else, etc.). Really, there's a time and a place for both open-source software and regular, rip-off software, and you just have to find that balance, wherever it is for you.

I am more of a Windows user due to compatibility reasons and the ease of use, it's important to maximize my online presence and time rather than spend most of my time learning the simple things.
