I have a wordpress blog that, once complete, will have around 8 different categories with 1,000+ posts. Like any wise webmaster, I installed the All-in-One SEO plugin for Wordpress and have disabled indexing for my category and tag pages to avoid duplicate content issues. When building links to my site, I plan on getting a good many backlinks to my category pages. Even though they are set to noindex, will link juice still pass to these pages and to the posts on the category pages?
Why would you disallow the categories? A "wise" webmaster would use the category base killer plugin and use a proper permalink like below... www.blog.com/category/postname This prevents the duplicate content issue and injects the category keywords into then URL structure. Using the "read more" option will prevent duplicate content in the category post listings. I think I answered the question above. Just noindex your archives and tags and make sure to also block them via the robots.txt file.
why would to not index them - thats not wise definitely there will be no PR juicing why not rewrite the post and let them be indexed
