Support for Horn was also running about 2-1 in an online survey of readers on the KHOU Web site.

The poll will not count due to the outcome.

Don't state facts, logic and the truth. They can't handle the truth.

I could write a simple HTTP client in less than ten minutes that uses proxies that would change that ratio, unless it requires a login. Just one way to show the lack of scientific control.

Yoda, is that you? Didn't you bite it in Return of the Jedi?...Think funny of issue taking with other's logic lack of given your illogic I will, hmmm.

Meanwhile, when we're not in bizarro world, from what I have seen, there has been a good deal of logic applied by those of us taking issue with this, on several points of substance, and from what I can see, it isn't some misplaced love of criminals at play; rather, it seems to be a basic love for principles of play in civil society. The only appeal to "logic" I have seen from yourself and your compadre is an appeal to "Texas wanted this. Done," along with the nifty cut and paste of images you apparently recently learned you can post. Hardly the stuff of cogency.

Again, please tell me how this will not now open up the sluicegates on scenarios exactly as those previously provided - say, a pair of halloween kids taking a shortcut through a neighbor's yard? You don't have a suspicion, call the cops, get pumped grab your goose gun, reject the professional's advice, and deliberately insert yourself in a previously non-lethal scenario with the predetermined intent to kill - unless you are predisposed to idiocy, murder, or both.

The fact is you could go through endless scenarios but they probably wouldn't be hypothetical, since something similar has probably happened in the past which in aggregation or cumulation has led pretty much all western civilization to pass laws which restrict vigilantism and require that the law be enforced by trained professionals. The reason there is any controversy at all is a result of civil evolution, which made this sort of vigilantism deviant by normal(yet ever changing) standards.

Those darn kids are back again? Isn't it past their bedtime yet?

Well, if those kids are spotted coming out of your neighbor's window with a bag of loot, and they are not smart enough to understand "Stop or I'll shoot", my guess is that the outcome would be the same.

Let’s disregard the fact that Joe Horn had a right to protect his neighborhood. Maybe with the strange logic the opponents of the ruling are displaying; the argument should be the robbers by breaking the window and stealing would stimulate the economy. They were helping stimulate the economy and therefore should not be charged with a crime much less shot. If Bush had a better economic plan for illegal aliens which included illegal drug benefits the immigrant would not be in the situation to steal for drug money.

Maybe Bush should be at fault in a bizarre twisting of the facts.

Yeah, 'course, those halloween pillow cases full of junk look pretty damn suspicious, and kids, being dumbshits, tend to freak over a lot of things - "oh, crap, we're in Mr. Codberry's yard and old man Horn is an asshole - mom's going to get really pissed. 'Course, looking down the open choke of a 10 gauge, they are apt to do anything at all, including walk towards the pinhead vigilante, run, curse, any number of things. Pinhead vigilante, itching to git sum, is very apt to shoot first, ask questions later.

Or, granted, a much, much more complicated scenario; call the cops, and a "suspicious persons" call is initiated. The cops show up, see the kids walking down the street, and say, what the fuck? The kids say, "we were cutting through Mr. Codberry's yard...are you gonna' tell my mom?"

And they go home. The cops laugh, Joe Horn wannabee sits down to his Lone Star pisswater, and two more take some of my O2 for decades to come.

    Yep, tough call.

One of the most fantastically screwed up pieces of obfuscation and inappropos comparisons (were it to rise to any kind of comparison) I've yet seen on DP. Brother, when you try formal logic, you need to warm up first - an aneurysm isn't pretty. :D

HOLY SHIT! A piece of shit cat just cut through my front yard with a steak from the neighbor's grill. I'm outta' here - I've been dying for a chance to use my .505 Gibbs, and I'm a gonna git sum!

Maybe the robber’s child lost a tooth in the early morning hours. The illegal immigrant being raised in a different system was not aware of the American way of placing a coin under a pillow. The immigrants came from an area that when a child loses a tooth it is customary to climb through a window and steal $2,000 dollars worth of goods. They did know better than to steal. They were also not aware that a person has a right to defend their property.

Yep, I know - in most of the (nefarious) regions of the civilized world, $2,000 worth of goods is not equal to a human life, but thank god, in sum partz, a big screen TV is a big screen TV! And all the better if the dood is runnin!

Maybe the robber’s had Robin Hood syndrome and was stealing from the middle class to raise drug money for the needy. The immigrants after watching the Spanish version of Robin Hood with Kevin Costner drew the conclusion that they were going to steal instead of work for drug money. After breaking the window and leaving the scene, they were stopped by a law abiding Horn. Maybe its Kevin Costner that can be brought up on charges.

There is one thing this thread has taught me. There are people on both sides of this issue whose views I respect. Then there are idiots. I have no use for idiots who can't understand logic or demonstrate basic language skills.

I have seen impressive displays of faulty logic, strawman arguments, out right lies about the issue the adults are discussing in this thread. No surprise really, not everyone can form a logical argument.
