    Geeurbie,

Thanks for the link. For me, this serves as a timely reminder of the simplicity of SEO.

I almost laughed out loud reading the comments underneath the article. Comments like "these tips are for beginners" and "I wish he would have given us more to work with" are typical of people looking for techniques that simply aren't there, or aren't worth chasing.

What more do people want? Are they really stupid enough that they cannot (or will not) follow these guidelines for higher rankings within the search engines?

The first three points are critical for SEO. Follow these, and couple them with great content, and you can't fail! These are the basic, written in stone rules, if you follow these and your website or blog is worth reading then you're all set.

A timely reminder of the SEO 'musts', thanks for the post!

    John.

the free tools advice should be taken with the grain of salt, unless of course you want Google to be able to track what you're tracking ;)

Seen his USA Today interview? How many times can you say the same thing without getting tired of your own voice? ;)

sometimes people make SEO more harder than it is.
i see all kind of ideas and blogs on SEO.
All kind of seo gurus out there.

You spend more time reading stuff than actually doing it.

Get other sites to "link" back to you.

Why didn't I think of that?

Matt Cutts knows jack about SEO. He is a software engineer and Googles Monkey.

What monkey gets told monkey does.

    Yes, very much so.

It's ok, I know I'll get some heat for saying that but the fact of the matter it is the truth.

I know Matt has his little army of "fans".

Sorry to piss on your bonfire chap but even the mighty Matt Cutts doesn't know ALL the Google algo. Not even close.

You do know there is more than one algo right? I'm sure you do, just making sure though ;)

And if he does have access to ALL of the algo, knowing how it works and actually putting that knowledge into practice are two different things.

I know the world just seems to "hover" in space but I don't know how it does it ;)
