yes it's duplicate. The way around this is to write two versions of the same article that way search engines will ignore the duplicate content rule

Spouse your site have 5 pages and you write same content in all of them then it will be good?

Look if you write one article in severals pages of your site then it will defiantly duplicate content and this can hurt your site

    Okay,

    It's not a penalty, it's fair!

Why should search engines rank you well multiple times for the same content?

How greedy are you? Not you personally, sarika!

    Search engines have 2 goals:

    1. Provide valuable and unique content based on the search terms that their customer appreciates based on popularity over time

    2. Monetize

Sound familiar? If not, keep reading in the forum, it's what you should be doing for your customers.

It's duplicate content. The search engines will pick one copy of the content and index it. The site that is considered the duplicate could be hurt if it doesn't have much more than the duplicate content and it triggers any other red flags with google.

My advice is to only put the content on one site and then link to it from the other site.

Even though it's duplicate, it's doubtful you'd get penalized for it.
Many people steal other people's content and many duplicates are created as a result.
I believe the search engines are smart enough to find out where the original source was.

I read somewhere that it is not necessarily considered duplicate content. Articles from the Associated Press appear in thousands of websites as well as in their own website and they are pretty well indexed in Google.

But that's just what I read, not really sure though...

ok. guys - site x and y are publishing same article 'a'

how will google define that 'x' is the owner of article 'a' and site 'y' is copying the article from site 'x'. how does google check it?

I knew that if a site owner publish a article server times under same site/domain which 100% same to another page in his site, it will be considered as duplicate content. for different domain, same article will be considered separately.

Many SEO experts argue that duplicate content issue is just a myth. In Digg, for example, most of the posts there are just duplicate copies of webpages, but they rank really well in Google. Thus, you'll not be penalized for posting a duplicate content.

Yes, you will eventually be penalized for it. I know lots of people that copy pasted articles to try and get better SRP. But unfortunately it just doesn't work. It will go against you in the longrun. I would just change things up a bit in the article. Change up the structure of it.
