When i click on search, i get "Results 1 - 10 of about 267" for a keyword and when press search button again, i get Results "1 - 10 of about 259" and in both results, I can see my blog up and down. Google SERP is shaking so much every minute for many keywords. I have checked. What could be the reason of this?
Probably you keep hitting a different data center with slightly different information on it. It happens sometimes and is not too uncommon.
that's a real good sign - that means you have to fight for every moment. And nobody will be at the top permanently.
ive been noticing a LOT of fluctuation in rankings the past few months, across many different keywords/niches and websites like page 1, page 2, page 1, page 3, page 1, page 2 - all in a matter of a week weird
The keyword "ping blog" is giving different results everyday because of so much competition among good sites.
You are probably switched randomly between various datacenters to spread traffic more equal and improve system effeciency.
I am professional SEO in the last 7 years, i noticed this shaking in rankings after unscheduled PR update. It was easy to find this because i am working on more than 100 projects, and another 12 my own websites. Things are starting normalize from the beginning of this month and Google show official info about this shaking.
It's not a competitive keyword, who would search for "ping blog" in Google? normally competitive keywords have more stable results. Drugs keywords, for example, are stable.
This is because of different data centers that Google and any search engine have. You are extracting data from different data centers. That's normal and healthy. Data might normalize soon , though.
I think this fluctuation goes for almost every search engine. I have seen same kind of fluctuation with yahoo and msn too for some keywords.
One of my blog slipped to Page 2 from Page 1 and continuously making movements, When it's on page 1, i can see the number of pages index become more as well as link: operator gives me more links and when it's on page 2, i can see the number of pages index become less and link: operator also give less number of links. I am loosing my search traffic because of this movement
When you're seeing these fluctuations in SERPS take note of the number of search results. I've found when I suddenly jump up there are fewer results returned which sort of backs up what Avatar7 says.
