One of my site is being crawled by google as shown in webmaster tools. However, I notice that my site as lost all of it's indexed page. I had near 40k indexed pages now I have 0. Is this temporary ? do you know how I should approach this problem ?
??? 40K pages to 0... Has your traffic stopped as well?. If you are still receiving traffic from Google then it may just be a bug in WMTs.. Have you changed the format of your sitemap lately? (that can sometimes cause it to show no pages indexed.. but only in WMTs) What happens when you do a site:yourdomain.com? do you get a return? Cheers James
Google may crawl your website but the indexed pages may only appear days or weeks later...they dont have only your site pages to include dont you think? They probably will give higher/faster priority to higher pr sites...
I think your missing the problem. I lost 40k indexed pages, im not waiting to get indexed for the first time.
Maybe you got de-indexed. Does your site contain anything that someone might complain to google about? Otherwise, their records may be in the process of updating; I have had one do that for about a day, then back to normal.
It's gotten de-indexed. It's gonna be really long and hard to get it back into the Google index. Try sending them an email from the webmasters panel. That's the best you can do under the circumstances ..
I am facing similar problem. My site has lost all its ranking and There is not a single page cached by google.
I have put a reconsideration request in google webmaster. But, they do ask what have you change recently on your site so it as become penalised. The thing is , I did not modified the site recently.
wow.. that does not sound good.. There is no warnings anywhere in webmaster tools? no email from them? James
For a lyrics site, you are gonna have a tough time with duplicate content and possibly, DMCA issues. You will probably want to start looking at other methods of promotion and be prepared to deal with things such as takedown notices, DOS attacks and getting shut down by your host. If you are not getting ad revenue from the pages, you may be able to keep the site up for a little while, they will eventually try to send a C & D letter demanding that you shut the site down. Whether or not the files are hosted at a location where the laws are unenforceable, it won't matter. They have been putting pressure on google (and other search engines) to de-index these sites.
You should notice something that changed on your site. Maybe there's other party or a flag to your site. If nothing is wrong try to drop an email to google.
Read Google TOS and then do a search for "Google index" and research a little. I didn't take the time to read all responses but I'm guessing the reason you pages are not indexed is partly your fault. I've heard many stories of webmasters who lost their indexing with Google for a variety of reasons. Maybe you should E-Mail them.
Google is more strict now with duplicate content. They tend to penalize sites that have a lot of copied content but didn't knew that they also started to deindex sites for that.
