I have just started a forum and I was wondering if anyone had tips on how to get members, posts, etc. and keep it from becoming inactive and dying, as happened to my last forum.
That's a tough and broad question .. Well, you HAVE to start by offering something compelling to attract people to your forum and then you have to ensure that the forum keeps offering them some strong reason to keep coming back. You could start by offering some freebies that help your visitors ..
Go to the buy,sell and trade section of this forum and hire posters for your forum. Let's face it, would you participate to an empty board? More posts usually equals more visitors to your forum who will fill up your board with tons of content thus making it more popular with search engines...
Always try to keep some sections private for a while to guests, that sometimes gets people to sign up.
You just have to keep posting until you get a small core of regulars. Offer something (a benefit) on your forum to get people to stay and post... even if it's free banner ads or sitewide links for a year. James.
You need alot of time and patience to run a forum, first of all advertise it on same-like sites, and dont expect any revenue from it in the beginning.
