Is there an update going on or has Google been downgrading PR? I have noticed that www.ebjuris.com is now PR3 wasn’t it 5? Thanks Brian
goodness. that's a quality directory IMO. I remembered it was sold and maybe the backlinks lost too. Is there a PR update ? I didn't see any changes yet.
A PR update should be coming soon and that it showing a 3 on my google toolbar, but we all know that things reputation for accuracy.
Your right, looks like a downgrade. Just found a niche pet and travel directory that dropped from 5 to 3. Thanks Brian
Just noticed that the directory has been penalized by Google, it’s not showing on the first 5 pages for its domain name. Shame for the new owner. Thanks Brian
I would really like to know ... if the new owner is guilty for the penalization...and if he is... what caused the penalisation... I think it will be useful for all to know that. We are here to learn from each other mistakes not to byte each others asses (I would like to salute the red team ppl who just don't have any better job to do in here) , as in here are gathered the owners from a lot of major directories in the world. Please post in here if you find further information about this case. Thanks, hyper
I don't venture in directories often. -50 SERP is normally attributed to link selling. Google will forgive if they shed paid, and file for reinclusion
I am really upset to see ebjuris getting PR3. Although i have sold it I still have great feeling for that dir as i worked hard to get it where it was. sorry mark to see this happening to your site. I have few observations that i will hopefully post later on which might help us understand google.
I didn't see any changes of my sites yet. I'm also hoping that my pr will increase in this coming update.
Tne next update shall be around the end of July and the earlier of August. Could you check your pr in all the data centers of google?
I’m not sure if we will ever understand Google. A couple of my directories received the same punishment with some of the bigger directories first time around. First was the SERPS penalty, them the PR drop, in the end all the PR was removed and indexed pages dropped. I tried really hard to have the penalty lifted by dropping Sitewides, losing my paid links, removing TOP and NEW pages, removing reciprocal link option. I filed for reconsideration but still no luck. Some observations or possible reasons Selling Sitewide or Sponsored links. Buying high PR links. Redirecting Domains. Encouraging people to link back to the directory by offering a reduced submission fee for reciprocal links. Having little content, some of the directories had PR5 on categories with no content. Interlinking own directories. Selling links by PR, how often did we see “PR 5 links for sale Or signature links “PR6 Directory†Pay and you’re in!!! This wasn’t the case for the better directories but how many bidding directory owners said that gambling links would be rejected, once a big bid was received the rules changed. Now before you all shoot me with red, I’m not suggesting that the above was or is the case with the above directory or any of the other penalized directories. But I’m sure they all did some of the above, I know I did. Most of it is basic but might be helpful for some. Thanks Brian
Absolutely right. Directories of high PR have the power to affect serps, and many don't use no follow tags. It is a witchhunt to stop link juice from flowing
Thanks Majnoon. Your email was greatly appreciated. I was shocked to say the least to hear about this. We're a reputable SEO company and in 8 years, we have never had a site banned. I believe I have identified the problem which appears to be an errant redirection. As such, we have suffered a duplicate content ban. Real shame as the person I put in charge of this site should have noticed it!
