Someone Has Copied My Entire Website...

Hi,

I was looking at some of my statistics for my Make Money Investing website and I'm getting a lot of hits from a specific URL - http://www.payreview.cn

When I go to this URL, I see that it is an exact copy of one of my other websites - http://www.paid2review.co.uk

On my paid2review website I link to my make money investing website as well.


I don't understand why this Chinese website is sending traffic to my make money investing site, and I don't like the fact that my website has been copied.

What can I do regarding the Chinese site that has copied my site?

You need a lawyer and need to talk to that sites hosting company! Good luck

What would filing a report there do? I mean, wouldn't Google just remove the site from their search results if I win the arguement?

I have had a similar experience, You would try to get their contact information (specifically their hosting information) And you can file that DMCA form directly to the host. You will need to psychically mail them proof and a statement about it.

File a DMCA with Google will get their site de-indexed and have their Adsense account shut down.

Do a WhoIs search for their host, report the theft, and have their site shut down entirely.

 

I'm pretty sure that they are using my adsense code as well, which I don't really understand...

Whats really in it for them?

These days intellectual property rights are so hard to manage, ESPECIALLY internationally. You can try contacting their webhost or registrar, and try to tell them to take it down because of plagiarized content.

if they are using your adsense, then are you getting clicks from the site?

 

Some people have no imagination to create their own sites.

 

there are a lot of copy cat websites out there.. you need to find a way to get rid of it before they start stealing your traffic and people..

 

Make sure they arn't using your adsense code but if they are, make sure you tell Google is your code and not theirs.

 

You know you your http://www.paid2review.co.uk site ranks really good for the keywords "make money online".

anyways you can file complaint with google and then ask the webmaster to close the site or he will be sued.

 

This is probably just the first step of their plan which is to copy your entire site. For the next one, they'll have a look at all of your affiliates and ads, then subscribe to the same scheme. Once theyve got their own afflink, you can be sure they'll replace yours.

if theyre using your adsense pub id, be careful with filling DMCA, you don't want google to ban "your" pub id.

 

I wonder what if it's a case of the copycats stealing your content and then changing it a little...And they only steal parts of your site, not the entire site.

A new tactic I've seen is to steal parts from different websites, and piece them together to form a "new" site.

Also, they change the content up a little, so that it's not so obvious. It's not 100% copied content, maybe 70-80%.

Would DMCA be appropriate here?

If you haven't been subjected to this form of copying, you will be a victim, sooner or later....

Any idea how I can find out who is hosting their site? I've tried using a site but it takes me to a Chinese webhost and all the writing is in Chinese and so I don't know how to contact that hosting firm...

Would it be best to contact the hosts and ask them to shut it down, or to contact Google, or both?

Well one thing is it happened to me as well. Somebody had same site design, under a different extension (I think it was .cn as well.) One of my members to the forums attached to the site was able to find it somehow. I didn't do anything, because frankly I was glad it was from another country rather than one from the U.S. Also, the other site wasn't getting much traffic, but mine was.
