Hi Friends, Just wanted to get your thoughts on this. A Site:- A General Article Directory (No particular niche, like ezinearticles.) No PageRank. (So, no link sales) High Traffic - around 100k Uniques a month. Such a site is currently monetized only with Adsense and Kontera. (Even competing sites like EzineArticles, GoArticles, etc, use Adsense ONLY.) What other programs would you recommend? (Many programs, such as Adbrite, CPM networks, won't work because, they want traffic from a particular niche..not general traffic. Doing affiliates is also not possible, because there are hundreds of categories, with thousands of niches.) Let me have your ideas here.
What about using ebay and their affiliate program. Not 100% certain but I think they can feed totally relevant ads to virtually any niche. Scot
Hmm.. Yes, perhaps this would work. But are you sure eBay serves contextual ads? Because, it would be impossible to add ebay codes/feeds individually on different pages/niches.
Yeah, they're affiliate programs around that will pop up an offer that will be relevant with your content, you could also try to build an email list, for the users, before they can access the website. Once you have your email list, start thinking about what they would like to receive and what they wouldnt like to receive. Post some directory list or just sell the adspace in that email blast here on DP. Just an idea..
I don't think an Email list would really work, simply because it would not be targeted. E.g. there are people coming in searching for ringtones, and someone else who is looking for dental insurance. So, having a single email list, would not be of much value - it would just be a random list of people.
Try offering featured/sponsored articles on the front page. Authors can choose to pay like a $5 fee to have their articles featured on the front page, thus attracting more readers to use it on their websites, thus attracting more inbound links.
That's what I mentioned, not everyone would like to receive the same product. But you can use it as a newsletter, and sell some adspace in it to make some money.
Good Idea, but won't work in this case, as the site gets 90% Search Engine traffic, i.e. directly to the niche pages. However, your thought gives me an idea - I can probably sell featured articles per category, i.e. an "diabetes" featured article that will appear on all medical niche pages.
yeah try something like top listings (first 10 articles in the list for that niche will cost f.e. $4,95)
