Now I will admit in the early stages of my seo life PR was a huge thing for me, I have since come to realize it means NOTHING in terms of position in search engines, traffic etc etc I hope like me others realize IT'S NOT IMPORTANT. One example to share My rather new site on undiagnosed illness Is listed on page 1 position 3 on google for my main keyword living with an undiagnosed illness: http://www.google.com/search?q=living+with+an+undiagnosed+illness And guess what ?????? PR 0 I don't usually vent about these things....... but Don't get hang up on PR everyone
Well mate, your site is something not everybody makes a site about...When you have 13 sites in a dozen from the site you are working on, than PR and keywords mean everything Also, if you want to sell your site, than it's better too have a good PR But yeah you're right
I didn't think about the niche so yep I guess your right. Gives me something to think about....... BUT lol When I first started my horse website (I think you would class as popular topic) ranking terrific without PR so.....
Wow if you just started a website on such a broad topic like horse and got good rankings so early on, you definitely deserve a huge pat on the back!
I'll just link to what I said in another topic... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=8323694#post8323694
Perhaps I jumped to conclusion to quickly without all this input and thread references! I guess this is just relevant to my situation, I do have a better understand now, and appreciate all replies. REost by rekjl Broad topic Horse, I should have been more specific. Horse riding horse classifieds horse forum the list is endless, Horse Related should make you happier
I'm with you buddy, what people don't get is it's just one of the factor that Google consider in ranking a certain website. That is according to Google itself.
Well... Having high SERP doesnt mean you'll have PR... SERP is more on ranking withing a certain KW; while PR is ranking in general. Dont worry, just continue in link building it, and on the next PR update it might have PR then.
There are a couple reasons why you rank high... 1) your niche is uncompetitive. 2) Your domain name (in this case ~60% of the work) The PR value doesn't have much to do with the serp. I have new pages that don't have a PR value assigned (yet) and rank top10 for much more competitive niches. You don't have to worry much about PR value, that comes from your backlinks, worry about content and quality links with the right anchors.
Your page probably DOES have PR, and just hasn't appeared on the toolbar yet since no update since you got started. But yes, my main competitor for a certain 3-word phrase is above me as #1 and 2 and I am #3 and 4, and their PR shows as 3 and mine as 5... so it doesn't correlate exactly w/ SERP. Good luck
