Best of the Web (BOTW) Discount Information

I just received a discount offer from Best of the Web (BOTW) directory and thought I would share the offer with my DP friends. I use their directory a lot in my SEO efforts for clients and think of it as one of the best.

I listed with BOTW about 6 months ago and my link was not placed in the category I wanted, instead was thrown into an unindexed, localised page about 7 levels down which meant no SEO benefits at all for me. My emails were never answered. I won't be using them again.

 

I tried to apply their sponsorship advertisement, but never got approved also.

 

That is strange as I have always had great luck with them. Just out of curiosity what kind of site was it?

I think he was really looking out for himself because if you click through his page he gets an affiliate percentage of the sale.

And it probably worked for him although a little sneaky, and opens up the real reason for the post, just a pity they go to so much trouble then not understand how to use an affiliate link correctly.

 

One of my link they rejected ealier was accepted as a sponsored link last year! But, I am greatful as they refunded my initial payment.

 

Too costly even with the discount. I will be sticking to free directories for the moment

 

I submitted it to a furnture category, only to find there was another such category tucked away in regional sections for the UK - a massive 7 categories away from the main page.

This meant no SEO benefits (last I checked the page my link is on wasn't even indexed by Google) and no traffic as many people wouldn't even find it. What's more they changed the name of my site which I then had to email them 3 times to get corrected too (no reply when it was done either). IMHO it was premium money for piss-poor service.

Sorry to go on but I feel people should at least be warned. IMO the money could be better spent elsewhere, plenty of premium directories around at a fraction of the price with none of these issues.
