Is there any way URL channels can harm your CTR?

Hi, I'm asking this question because I honestly can't find another explanation:
I recently added some URL channels in the tracking section of my adsense account, and immediately afterwards the CTR went through the flooor.

I'm not talking about the CTR you see in the reports, because google explains that it might not be accurate because URL channels might overlap, etc.
I'm talking about the overall report that you see when you log in to your adsense account.

From the moment I added the URL channels, I started getting 10% of the clicks I was getting before, while the traffic hasn't changed.

Is this possible? I know it sounds crazy, but may be someone can come up with an explanation. Thanks a lot.

    Hi,

URL Channels have no bearing on the number of overall clicks you get ... As far as the user is concerned they will still see the same number of google ads they did before.

URL Channels are used so you can differentiate the stats between your websites, nothing more.

    Cheers....
    Gerald.

Hi Gerald, thanks for your answer. I understand what you're saying, but I'm wondering whether there are any known issues like google reviewing your site or treating your site differently or use a slightly different method once you've set up URL channels or a result of the fact that you've done it.
I'm aware that it sounds a bit far fetched.

    Nope,

Channels are merely a way for publishers to review how each individual ad or sets of ads are doing to allow for publishers to maximize their ad target/placement.

Using the tools google gives you by all means in no way will affect how google views your account.

Just make sure to follow their Terms of Service to a T and you have nothing to worry about.

It's been a week, and now it all seems to be back to normal.
It must have been a temporary situation caused by something else.
Thanks a lot for your help, rep added.
