Was this around the time DC was down because of non payment of hosting? If so, that would be the previous owners responsibility and not the new owner.

Tell me if I'm wrong here but if directory critic has been such a shit to everyone wouldn't it be a better idea to give them a wide berth in future and blank them instead of giving them free advertising by talking about them here?

Jamie, note there was no link given to them in the original thread.

Yes, totally agree. A blank is what they should be given.

I did notice that but silence is golden, even after the neg press there will still be people dull enough to pay out money to them. Haven't released my blog on them yet, maybe now is the time. :D

Trust me, the review would not be doing them any favours as their rating system is a load of rubbish. We actually had a customer or two legitimately write to them and rate our own directory with them but for some reason they chose not to do anything about that, it seems selectivity is the order of the day. 16 banners on the front page. Not sure about mfa, perhaps a new term made for banners as it reminds me of one of them old banner swap pages of a million years BC.

    Hey folks,

I am Manish from inetzeal.com, yes it is true that DirectoryCritic is sold. If anyone find anything wrong regarding advertising, Please dont mind to PM me. New owner is cool guy and we will try to sort out things together.

All advertises need to renew subscription again and advertise wont expire before your subscription is expired so no worries about it.

What are you, the official spokesperson or what? It would be good if people got things sorted out even it is a bit late in the day.

He is the person who sold the site.

Regarding silence is golden... whilst I agree in part. This kind of thread also helps to bring it out into the public when something is a miss. Especially for those who are considering advertising or haven`t yet heard about the second sale of this site.

I can agree that posts are valuable in naming and shaming a site that has shown bad practice, until this guy came along I was just about to do that as I for one am sick and tired of seeing fly by night's buying to sell without any thought for its customers.

Regarding future advertisers for that site I couldn't care less about that, this thread should not be turned into an advertising platform for a site that until now has not bothered to defend itself. I'm still waiting on the question on the position of the poster I just replied to, why p.m him? Is he the new owner or a spokesperson. Clarity costs nothing and can earn you everything.

I think you misunderstand me Jamie... my point was that by exposing the site in this way on a public forum it can ensure other directory owners are not sucked into spending money on advertising with them. Ergo protecting the members of the community.

    JamieG,

    I am old owner.

I don't think any of advertiser's advertise is expired before other than DirectoryPond's (That too by mistake, I know it is not acceptable but i refunded that guy last night. I apologize for that.)

    UPDATE

The following is a message I received from Manish, previous owner and gentlemen.
Thanks Manish. This gives me confidence.

    -----------------------------------------------------

    Hey Mate,

I am previous owner of DC and recently i sold it to another company. Well i already instructed them that you paid it upfront and they wont remove it before "August 21" as per our old deal.

In case your ad is remove, ill issue partial refund.

If you find any other problem, dont hesitate to shoot a PM to me.

    Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time for clarifying that, now if only they could get their review system working perhaps some of our customers could actually leave feedback on there.

Good luck with your new venture btw.

That was an elegant answer for someone's problem. An example of good customer care.

    Yeah, sure thing.

You have 1000 links on your home page!

Not too sure what to make of it apart from walkaway. Mind you, that is only my opinion.

    Thanks

That's why I like it, it concentrates on the most useful directories.

I'm less convinced as time goes on of the value of DC's voting system, because people don't really bother with it. I wonder whether that has something to do with its fall in traffic?
