That was my situation last week!

I was actully told not to bother!, With PayPal you can pull your money money back, but Western Union, its GONE!!

I didn't want to take the risk after being told the situation, but i suppose its down to the individual, do you trust/Know this business etc..?

I will be avoiding any Western Union option personally, but like i say, its really down to you, maybe others have used it, but it really does come down to who you are sending money too. (mine was Turkey, so i got told "No, Dont!!")

Not actually it is 100% safe for seller but 100% risky for buyer. Depending on which side you are in.

As a seller I use it. I also charge my clients extra as it is a pain going to the local WU place to get the money.

As a buyer, do not do this. I know someone who thought they put safe guards in. They transfered the money in a different name which they intended to change on receipt of goods. That way seller new funds were there but could not get them. It did not matter. The local office handed over about $1000 to an italian called John Smith! The Italian WU branch did not care. The referrence matched so they gave the money without questions. This should not be possible, but WU did not care.

Risk it if you wish, but i would recommend paypal. Any admin fee is worth it for safety.

Do not send any money to people you don't know/trust. Nigerian scammers always use WU to rip off people. Beware of that!

I am also using Westren Union for some sale, its a difficult for Buyer because once your money is out, you cannot get it back, So, I will recommend you to send money by westren union to known persons or trustable persons only, Westren Union is not as safe as many other but its useful for those where Paypal is not available like my country Pakistan :(

I don't think the poster meant it this way. Scammers from Nigeria does not equate All Nigerians are Scammers. But I would say Nigeria doesn't really have a good reputation on the Internet. Nigerian govt can do a lot to eradicate 419 scams but it seemed that it is not doing so.

Western Union is Good when you are sending money to someone you can relay on and enough confident to have either your work done or it is already been done before you sent the payment.

WoW, thanks people for some great advise.
As it turns out I did not use this method in the end, but the seller turned out to be a more than honest guy!
    But you never know!

Google is a very different buddy.

This topic is regrading sending payment to sellers who are unknown. Regarding Google sends you payment not you :)
