Alright... now I'm not 100% sure about the situation since I've been having drinks with little umbrellas in them for 2-3 weeks now and have been minutely monitoring things online... but I've noticed some WEIRD serp fluctuations for sites that should hold their SERPs. I've been keeping up with the "PR update" threads noticing people with the same comments (regarding drastic SERP changes), so I decided to just create a thread about it to collect some comments/opinions. Did I miss something big? PR update (eek)? Is this another one of those "3 Week SERP Phase" stuff that come along every now and then? Does this thread even make sense? Been doing some research online and this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Hell... it's happened to me before, but I thought i'd have a lot of authority sites by now (dominant SERP results for 6+ months)... but some sites have been hit that I really wouldn't expect them to. Alright. Enough . Will check this thread later to see what others have to say! I'm going to just wait it out until I finish my little vacation and then stress about it.
Just the same ole panic attacks by the same ole people. Probably the same ones that check to see how many pennies they've earned in the past 10 minutes.
Something is definitely up... but I just don't have the resources with me to do enough research as to what sort of "hiccup" has been going on. I think it started on June ~20ish. I had some problems with my stats for 4-5 days, so I lost extremely valuable information. Not exactly panicking since stuff like this is expected (and budgeted accordingly), but a lot more than pennies is being lost since the fluctuation began (at least for me).
Mine has been fluctuating, it is a 10 year old site and had been very stable nowadays it can go from 2-10 positions and it repeats the cycle every now and then in a week it can change a few times, this had never happened before. Trying to SERPs is so tedious that I am about to give up.
Didn't think you were the one panicing. There are some around here that check their earnings every 4-5 minutes. WTF. I check at the end of the week or month.
Mine is not about earning but about positioning in the search engines, the changes in positions are now occurring far too rapidly for my liking.
It seems to me that SERP changes over the past week or so are slightly more significant in that for the KWs I follow, I'm seeing more *.edu, *.org, *.gov in the top 10. It does not appear drastic to me, as this TLD type was maybe 1 or 2 in the top 10 and is now maybe 3 or 4. It sort of looks like a tweak toward higher trusted. /*tom*/
I read that it could also be due to the fact that normal edu and gov domains are far older than normal dot coms domains and hence the longer time to accumulate substantial back links comparatively. May not just be the trust but rather the same old backlinks story. For org wise, some of the most respected societies are org, that may explain why they are near the top.
Just took a look at my logs... Started June 24 (Someone PM'd me asking if I could check). Wouldn't have started this if it were with 1 site... but I've noticed it with more than 15.
You may want to look at the Google Updata topic! Google is performing its flamenco number. The SERP's are all over the place.
