Well I hate to admit it, as I hate any other search engine other than Yahoo and Google but I think this truly will be the Google Killer. http://www.forbes.com/technology/2008/07/01/powerset-msft-search-tech-intel-cx_ag_0701powerset.html
Everything deserves competition mate. Google actually looks forward to it so that that will compel them to improve
So does this mean I will start getting more traffic from MSN? j/k This is actually great news. It will be interesting to see what the results of this acquisition will be.
Competition is good for everyone! It helps to keep prices down and attempts to stop someone/company from monopolizing the market which they then in turn mark the prices at whatever they want! That, of course, is bad for everyone!! YES, competition is good!!
Google is always ready to face competitive market. They even developing and producing more and useful applications for the users, they are ready to face competition.
Yeah. I read that "powerset", a new search engine willing to take the google head on. But is it powerful enough to offset the competition from google?
Google is one of the best and most advanced companies on earth, microsoft will never comply with it, just compare the ages of msoft ceo's and googles, google will always be ahead
Hmmm... ok. But to tell you the truth, i can't comment on that. I'd say we all need some competition. It's healthy and can fire up new ideas, new aproaches.
what makes you think it can be a google killer. even when something is better it doesnt necessarily become market leader... When people say they have to search for something on the internet they even say im going to google. The google brand is huge
I heard this news! But Google doesn't need to worry because of some reasons! Firstly Powerst isn't expected to operate in a perfect way. Secondly, who would prefer something else but Google - Google kills its competitors. Microsoft has been desiring to defeat Google search engine...Bill Gates said the same words!
Heh, I just tried powerset for my keyword and 5 of 10 results on the first page were from wikipedia. That's really cheap.
"Better" technologies may not be the winner, Google is extremely entrenched in their niche which is Internet search, it takes more than better technology to dislodge them from their dominant position. Also buying a technology is one thing, implementing it and to make it acceptable to users is yet another thing. Between now and integration will be a long and tedious process. Between integration and users' acceptance and conversion will be yet another.
Google is getting autocratic in many senses... So they do deserve some competition, and rightly so from Microsoft, who were the rulers of internet until google arrived.
The point is, maybe MS will have better arithmetic, be they do not have a BIG database on clawed webpages, build this database need time and lots of bandwidth
