Got a question I've meant to ask for sometime, but forgot. It's about Search Results; the way a few appear. For example, if I search for "Digital Point Forums" there is a TITLE and description, but there are also these neatly organized sub-headings beneath. About 8 of them, 4 on the left and 4 on the right. How does that happen? I can understand another thing, where Google displays one page from a site, with a second one below - indented. For my site, it's usually HOME first and another page indented, or another page first with the HOME indented. But I am very curious about the other appearance. For DP forums, one of the sub-headings is "Google" - another is "Buy, Sell, Trade". I'd guess that it's something Google does for forums, but I've seen it for other types of websites. Is there something in the design of a site-map that affects this? Anybody good at explaining this one? Thanks.
Those Links are called SiteLinks. These links are rewarded by google to a site which has constantly been on the top of SERPs with quality content (althought it is not limited to this) ... just to help people Navigate the site more easily This should help you : http://www.hochmanconsultants.com/articles/sitelinks.shtml
Yes these are sitelinks and Google creates these links only when it feels it's required and the complete process is automated, you can find sitelinks for PR3 site and you may not find sitelinks for PR9 site, all depend on Google's algorithm to assign sitelinks. But i also have a doubt regarding this. I have not seen sitelinks for any blogger or wordpress blog.
