I know, "n00b question" but I have to ask. In the past I built a couple or websites and added content to them for about a week before I submitted to Google, Yahoo and Live. At the moment I am building 2 sites. One is a Drupal site that is installed. I am just themeing and mollifying it at the moment. The other site is based on a Perl script, I just need to finish up with the design but everything else is 100% functional. I have zero content for both of these sites I am working on, should I submit to the main 3 search engines now or wait until I have some content on them?
Follow the following steps 1.Design your site. 2.Add Relevant Content. 3.Optimize your meta tags as per your targeted keywords. 4.Create an XML sitemap and submit it in Google webmaster Tools , Yahoo , MSN etc. 5.Finally bookmark them in social bookmarking sites like Dig, Delicious etc. I hope these steps will help your site get indexed soon. Thanks
Never submit them to search engines. Submit to a few directories and let the search engines find them naturally.
I agree with fastman. Just work on proper linkbuilding and the spiders will come crawling in no time.
Add content, create a sitemap, build links and they'll find your website on their own. Also, submit your sitemap to the Google Webmaster Account.
wait until you have 5-10 pages of high quality content in my opinion. If you hurry it will only put potential customers off.
First do on page optimization , then start off page optimization. Try to make xml sitemap and submit it to different SE including Google, webmaster tool.
Thanks for all the advice everyone. I initially thought of submitting to Google ASAP so I could get out of the sandbox quicker. I guess I was wrong. I will wait to submit to search engines until after I put up some content, do on-page optimizations and setup an XML sitemap.
I agree with other about having content first. but once you get submitted to dmoz most search engines will find your site on there own.
Get your content ready then get some back links and the search engines will find you. Don't waste your time submitting your site to the search engines.
If you tried submitting your sites to directories, you do not need to submit your site to those search engines anymore because it may include you instantly...
you dont need to submit them to any, they will crawl and index your site automatically, concentrate on building high quality links and great content.
