    what is the normal server?
I know this type of servers:
VPS server - virtual computer, three or two virtual servers on one hardware
dedicated server - one hardware fully under your control
managed server - the same as dedicated but with administration service for you (like updates).

if when you say "normal server" you mean a "shared server", then you are sharing the server with other sites, hundreds maybe even thousands of other sites and you can get shared hosting for a few dollars a month.
dedicated server is a server of you own, you get to do what you want with it (within reason) and only your site will be on it, therefore costing you a lot more $$ - $$$ a month.

A lot of shared hosts use 'overselling', literally speaking they may only have 40GB of disk space on offer but they will offer you 400GB.

With shared hosting you put a lot of faith in the web hosting company, with a VPS or dedicated server you have increased control & freedom whilst putting the fate of your website in your own hands.

Also, you have to account for the fact that budget dedicated servers dont even have raid in many cases, so a VPS might be a better option. As stated above, overselling is a huge problem, and if a shared host offers you 500GB space, they usually expect you to use at most 1GB. They can actually suspend you if you use anything close to 500GB, claiming that you are "abusing" there servers(over a certain percentage).

Close to 500GB more than likely meaning 5-10GB... Read the Terms & Conditions or Terms of Service very carefully, and in most cases even then it won't be worth it. Pay $5-$10 extra and get a shared hosting plan that offers realistic resources, or as thevpsguy has said a VPS is often a quick and easy solution and is fast becoming favoured over shared hosting for many.

Yeah, exactly...What i meant was, they will kick you off if you use like mabey over 20gb in some cases, but they dont even expect most users to use over 1gb of space, because in most cases they dont allow music/video files, but only really web page files, which doesnt take up much space.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. Are you asking about the difference in colocation vs. dedicated servers?

What do you mean by "normal servers? Examples?
