Google Market Capitalization $163.49B Microsoft Market Capitalization $253.51B I am not sure how Microsoft lost to Google. In terms of?
microsoft is going down slowly... they're still on top, but are loosing ground. google is a big threat, linux has more and more home users.
google is planning to come out with an OS.. lol best of wishes to BG for making the technology easier for home user.
I wont even talk about his fortune....you retire when your tired of working and itatime to move on. He doesn't need to work at Microsoft. He needs to run his foundation, one of the biggest (if not the biggest) private foundation in the US. He didn't lose anything. PS I may be wrong about the charity comment, correct me if need be.
bill ran microsoft for more than 33 years, i read once in the NYtimes or the Sun about his schedule...damn thats a schedule you wouldn't want even in your worst nightmare
he isn't running away... he's been planning his retirement for over 5 years... Therels always competition. If Gates waited until there wasn't competition left he wouldn't ever retire.. And besides, its not like he dropped all of his MSFT shares.
You are totally correct! http://news.zdnet.com/2424-9595_22-208815.html He's a huge winner in my eyes and look he is devoting his time to a charity; one of the richest people in the world. - This guy is a legend!
Microsoft is still far larger than Google in terms of market capitalization. And Gates is richer than the Google guys combined
Bill started microsoft back in what, 1975? Think about what he's done. He put a computer in every home, on every desk. He created the worlds largest development platform. Microsoft has done so much for people, Google can't even compare. If it wasn't for microsoft, Google wouldn't have been thought of/wouldn't have anyone to use their service. As far as search engines, yeah google is doing better. But microsoft is catching up, and I think they'll grab and hold onto a big chunk of the marketshare.
Bill gates has teh monies. So he pretty much have nothing to worry about it. "Without money, you are nothing"..
Although i do accept that Google has really been a big blow to microsoft and Bill gates, i respect Bill for the decision he made to quit Microsoft and work for charity. Very few of us would leave a life of wealth and a great job at Microsoft for the sake of the poor. I think we all should respect Bill gates for his sacrifice. Regardless if we like Microsoft or not. I personally like google over Microsoft (in terms of a corporation as a whole) but respect Bill for his care for the poor. Before you make comments like that you should research why the man quit! Thanks
the only research i get is: 1. Microsoft tries to dominate the internet. 2. ASP sucks and SQL server is expensive 3. Micoroft has no adsense. 4. Internet Explorer clash with FireFox Why retire at the peak of the internet warfare with Google?
If Bill Gates (Worlds richest man 13 years straight) lost then thats the loser I want to be.. Lost??? LOL You wish you could lose so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Bill Gates lost - then my dream is to be a looser. Edited: Just noticed I'm not the only one who told this
I think he cares a great deal about Microsoft losing to Google in the search battle. Money stopped being his motivation in life well over 20 years ago. He had more than enough money to retire in the mid-1980's. It's been a game for him since then, and I'm sure he's not pleased with Google slaughtering Microsoft in search.
Bill Gates didn't lose anything. I don't think there is anyone of us that would not want to be in his position. I know I, for one, would love to be.
