Directory Critic sold - what about ads paid months in advanced

Directory Critic has been sold onto Maximizer e-Services Pvt.

This is the second time it has been sold this year.

The first was back in January 08 when Damien (then owner) sold it onto inetzeal.

Since then they too have lost PageRank and their Alexa traffic has fallen from below 13,000 to 90,000 plus.

    ---------------

At this present moment, I must say I am disappointed as Directory Critic sent us an email saying our advert to one of directories that was paid for 6 months in advance will be removed shortly even though it has about 7 more weeks to run!

YES. I have contacted the new owners of DC and explained the situation. Maybe the old owner did not inform them or they simply do not care!

    Hope it is the former.

Very interesting news. No doubt the explosion of people offering directory lists has taken some of their marketshare. Traffic to my free directory list has continued to grow at a steady rate of 12-15% per month.

Hopefully the new owners of DC will allow the ads to run or provide a refund. Starting new ownership of DC with a black eye is not the way to go...

Any DP users are more then welcome to contact me for a special offer to advertise on my free directory list page. Although I don't have traffic like DC, the special pricing for DP users will be more then fair.

Thanks for the nice comments pipes. :)

My list has been around since the middle of last year, but did not get much exposure until recently. The list is fully sortable by name, PR, and date, using the category arrows. There is a report option for submitters to report directories that are paid, parked, non-functional, etc.

The primary focus of the list is to provide a listing of newly released/launched directories. The value for submitters is that their links get approved quickly. The list contains only directories that are SEO friendly (no nofollow directories, no non friendly URL's, etc.).

I also have a social bookmarking list that I am still working on. Once I get time to complete that list (categorize the listings), it will be promoted as well.

Other than the formatting and functionality, what's nice about the list? Have you checked the "directories" listed? Dropped/deleted domains, foolbar PR; looks like a collection of anything and everything.

Those are free links, so in some cases you get what you pay for. If you are looking for higher quality directory links, then check out a paid directory list.

That's fine folks. It's not easy to maintain a 'good' directory list. Directories get sold so quickly (we are talking a directory of directories getting sold aren't we?) that maintaining an accurate and updated list is not an easy task.

I see that Dan is doing a good job with his list so far but the list is really small nowadays !!

Its a nice big list, its free, its updated, lots that i haven't seen before, im cool with everything that it is.

Im not fussy when its free, and i want to promote just like anybody else does.

Ive seen some tricks in my time from some of the guys who appear here once in a while spouting off all that scammer talk and ive seen the little things they get up to themselves, know what i mean? :)

You know i have paid directories, you have used one of them, but i dont see a big bunch of free directories as any problem.

So what if their dropped domains, they clearly are, use them or ignore them.

I just want another backlink from it, backlinks work, i dont care when they lose the pr, its still a backlink.

    To each his own.

Promoting and supporting those that are just here to back a fast buck off of anyone only perpetuates the problem.
